Utrecht is Annexed - 20 AD to 80 AD

The last post began with Thule's garrison bombarding a Barbarian Brute. One must pay them a visit!
One's Warrior on Ireland is moved into friendly territory so that it can be upgraded to Swordsman when there is sufficient Gold in the Treasury.
30 AD: Sorry, Catherine but Attila is a friend....
One's realm requires another city so a Settler is slipped into London's production queue.
The Brute is bombarded again and that's all for this turn.
Not funny for Haile Selassie - he has lost another city to Shaka of the Zulus....
40 AD:  The Barbarian Brute is finally eliminated.
End of my turn.
Haile Selassie and Shaka sign a peace treaty. Ethiopia is the clear loser here having lost two cities. The nation now only has its capital Addis Abeba.
More diplomacy. Actually one does want to attack Spain but the time is not ripe.
50 BC: One has enough Happiness to annex Utrecht :)
The city is renamed Marseilles and a Courthouse is placed on the production queue....
....one adds a Granary for good measure.
A Colosseum has been completed in Nantes and a Barracks will be built next.
Finally the Warrior in Ireland is upgraded to a Swordsman. It is time to deal with the Barbarians on Greenland.
60 AD: More small-talk (bored).
The two red crosses mid-right indicate that something is cancelled....
....and a look at the Economic Overview shows that I have Whales available for export.
Morocco is not very cooperative so I try Sweden.
Gustavus Adolphus is even worse :-(
One gives up - end of turn.
70 AD: Now that is a happy end - one accepts :)
One's Swordsman is underway to Greenland. Egypt and The Netherlands have signed a peace treaty - hopefully without giving William an Egyptian city. The small map, bottom-right, indicates that this is not the case.
Egypt and Ethiopia are now friends - I'm sure that Ramesses II is acting out of pity....
Catherine has declared war on Attila - that should be amusing....
One turns to Greenland. The Trireme reveals that only one Brute is there. One's Swordsman is on its way to greet it :)
That ends this post. Time for tea :)

A New Millenium - 20 BC to 10 AD

Until one rids Greenland of the Barbarian Encampment Thule will be periodically raided by Brutes. The Worker has been given their final orders.
There are too many Cargo Ships based in London so one is moved to Nantes.
Not much happening so 'Next turn'.
10 BC: Thule bombards the Brute again....
....and a new Trade Route is opened from Nantes to Marrakech - very lucrative but Morocco's Religion is being exported....
Faro has grown and one's new Citizen is assigned to the mines. Faro needs the Courthouse more than growth.
End of turn :)
1 AD: The new Millenium has arrived and Haile Selassie is not celebrating - he has nothing to party about because the Zulus are harassing him.
The Drama and Poetry Technology arrives and Plymouth has been connected by road to London which means +1 Happiness and +5 Gold.
One eliminates the annoying Brute first....
....then one's Worker starts to construct a Farm in Faro region.
The next Tech selected is Compass but Theology is required first so it will automatically be researched before Compass.
Now some statistics - England is somewhere in the middle of the pack at the moment.
There are no exports available and the second chart shows that no military units are being built - but four Colosseums and two Monuments are being constructed.
One purchases a Shrine at Thule for 580 Gold, (ouch).
The Deer hex SE of Dundee requires a Camp - so be it.
That ends my turn.
One checks London and decides to add a Barracks to the production queue.
There is only Religion left and 40 Faith points are still required - that means seven agonizing turns because someone else may grab it....
10 AD: Another Brute nears Thule! Luckily the Worker, being East of Thule, is not in any danger.
One grants Gustavus Adolphus this request because Sweden is an enemy of The Netherlands.
Who pulled his chain??
No idea what England has done but who cares what Ethiopia thinks....until next time :)
